About the Lakes

There is a strict NO DRINKING policy for the area. This is a family fishing area, please abide by this rule and all others to make this safe for the kids.

We have 6 lakes in our area. 4 of those lakes are fishable, 2 are wildlife viewing areas. We have spotted eagles at certain times of the year.

Blue Cat Lake is our biggest lake..it has all species of fish in it, largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, blue and channel catfish and the cherokee bass ( hybrid stripe bass) Shellcracker Lake is our next in size, it has all of the above fish plus you might run into a few crappie in this lake. Goldeneye Lake is our smallest lake, its best known for its largemouth bass and early in the summer , some good sized shellcracker can be found. Whippoorwill lake is called the youth fishing lake. An adult cannot fish in this lake alone. They must be accompanied by a fishing child. There are picnic shelters available at the Shellcracker and Whippoorwill Lake. All lakes have boat ramps and fishing piers except Goldeneye Lake..there is no pier and the lake is usually quite low , so we discourage use of the ramp. The piers are handicapped accessible as well.

Each year there is one day designated for free fishing for everyone regardless of age! This year it will be June 12th. The entire week following June 12th will be free fishing for youths .. Any youth age 15 and under during that week will fish free. There is usually a great fishing rodeo on the Whippoorwill Lake on the free fishing day. Free hot dogs, bait and prizes are given out while supplies last. There will be a few volunteers that day to help children learn to fish if they need it.
